Medical Home

Our resident clinic emphasizes the medical home model of care, focusing on:

  • wellness and prevention,
  • coordination of care,
  • longitudinal management of children with special health care needs and chronic conditions, and
  • provision of a patient- and family-centered approach to care.

In continuity clinics, residents care for a panel of patients who identify the resident as their primary care provider.

Pediatric residents and faculty at Marshall University use the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) medical home modules for pediatric residency education. A project using these modules has been presented at Marshall University's Health Science Research Day and the Marshall University Patient Safety & Quality Improvement Summit. It was also published in Global Pediatric Health
