ELAM and ELH Programs Call for Applications

JCESOM office of Faculty Advancement is soliciting applications for the selection of the JCESOM School of Medicine’s nominee for the 2024-2025 Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM)  Fellowship. This program is a year-long part-time fellowship for women faculty dedicated to developing the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage in the academic medical center environment.

ELAM is an excellent, well-established 1-year fellowship that prepares senior women faculty to take on executive-level leadership roles in academic medicine, dentistry, and public health. Executive Leadership in Health Care - Drexel University College of Medicine (ELH) is an expansion of ELAM with a dedicated focus on executive leadership in health care. ELAM and ELH share many curricular components and distinct programming and learning communities dedicated to specific program audiences.  The ELAM Fellowship is an extraordinary opportunity for the right candidate.

Who is eligible?

Women faculty who has been at the rank of Associate Professors for two years or recently promoted Professors with demonstrated leadership roles within the department or at the institutional level are eligible to apply. Both basic and clinical science faculty can apply.

Participation in the program takes significant personal and institutional commitment, which must be demonstrated during the application process. The information below pertains to the most recent ELAM/ELH selection process.

What are the Selection Criteria?

A robust candidate application showcases leadership capabilities. This encompasses:

- Narratives of leadership roles involving strategic risk-taking.

- A history of both formal and informal professional development, which includes mentoring and involvement in programs beyond their area of expertise.

- Reasons for pursuing leadership positions and a pragmatic evaluation of potential leadership opportunities within and outside the organization over the next five years after completing the fellowship.

- A concept or strategy for an Institutional Action Project that enhances leadership skills and raises institutional profile.
