Surgery Residency Program

Dr. David Denning was recently honored by Surgery Resident Alumni, Dr. Steve Thomas, with this commissioned artwork that celebrates Dr. Denning’s 30th class of General Surgery graduates.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the General Surgery Residency Program at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Your General Surgery Residency will be filled with changes and challenges, which combined, will be beneficial to your development as an accomplished and skilled general surgeon.

The General Surgery Training Program is under the direction of the full-time surgery faculty of Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. There are also approximately 32 community surgeons who actively participate in the program and provide enormous resources of clinical material and teaching.

Our training program is relatively small, resulting in a close-knit, cohesive group who interact socially on many occasions.

We, the faculty and staff of the Department of Surgery, are available at any time to assist you in your educational endeavors.
