Bio

Bonnie Beaver, MD is a Professor in the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Marshall University's Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. She received her M.D. degree from Ohio State University with AOA distinction. Dr. Beaver completed her general surgery residency training at Ohio State University and her pediatric surgery residency training at the University of Maryland and The John's Hopkins University. She is the former Director of Pediatric Trauma Services (1987-1993) at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Columbus Children's Hospital (1993-1995). Dr. Beaver was an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, The John's Hopkins School of Medicine (1987-1993) and at The Ohio State University College of Medicine (1993-1995).

Dr. Beaver has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters and is currently involved in several ongoing research projects. She is a member of several national committees and a Level I Trauma Center Reviewer for the American College of Surgeons Committee of Trauma for consultation and verification. Her academic interests include general surgery, pediatric surgery, trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency medical services for children. Dr. Beaver is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General and Pediatric Surgery. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of AAP Surgical Section; American Pediatric Surgery Association (APSA); APSA Committee on Trauma; American Association of Surgery of Trauma, Association of Academic Surgeons and Regional Committee for Poison and Injury Prevention for American Academy of Pediatrics & councilor of the West Virginia Chapter American College of Surgeons.
