Associate Professor
Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Ray is a native of Buffalo, New York. He moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1995 to pursue his surgery career. He obtained board certification in 2002 in general surgery and board certification in plastic surgery in 2009. He completed his fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery under Dr. Luis O. Vasconez and pursued further sub-specialty training in pediatric and craniofacial surgery under Dr. John H. Grant, III. He practiced surgery for the care of facial trauma, pediatric cleft, craniofacial, and burn reconstruction at Children's of Alabama Hospital until moving to Huntington, West Virginia to join the growing Marshall Plastic Surgery Service in 2015.
As a member of the US Army Reserves he served as the Chief of Surgery of the 6250th US Army Hospital in Bosnia-Herzogovina in 2003, as the medical director of the Salerno detachment of the 325th Combat Support Hospital in Afghanistan in 2004-2005, and as the Chief of the 946th Forward Surgical Team in Afghanistan in 2011-2012. He was recently awarded a Bronze Star for his service.
