Our Institution participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP Match); therefore, all applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). Our Program employs a holistic approach to each aspect of the recruitment process and, as such, we review the entirety of an applicant’s MyERAS application, including supplemental data. We align our interview practices, including the number of interview invitations distributed and the date on which invites are sent, with the Association of Program Directors in Surgery Task Force’s General Surgery Application and Interview Recommendations for the given academic year.

Our Program’s review criteria includes:

  • Performance in medical school, as shown on official transcript(s) and described in the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), or Dean’s Letter.
  • Performance on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK examinations and/or the equivalent NBOME COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2 CE examinations.
  • Supplemental application data, such as AOA, community outreach, and meaningful personal experiences.
  • Graduation from medical school within the previous two years.
  • For IMG candidates, completion of at least six months of clinical experience in the US.

Our Program distributes all interview invitations via Thalamus to allow applicants to schedule themselves.

Institutional requirements include ECFMG certification for IMG candidates who are offered a contract. Our Institution accepts J-1 visas and cannot sponsor H-1B visas.

Note: Matched candidates must complete and pass a mandatory background check and drug screening.
