I would like to welcome you to the Marshall Community Health Consortium Rural General Surgery Residency Program. We are both excited and proud that our newly ACGME accredited program is the first in the nation to be separately accredited with the ACGME Rural Track Program designation across all specialties.

The focus and mission of our program is to train residents who will ultimately have a successful practice in a rural community.

To accomplish this, the Rural General Surgery Residency Program integrates the unique challenges faced in a rural facility with a tailored academic medical center based training program to provide comprehensive educational and clinical experiences to hone your skills as a rural general surgeon. The small size of the program facilitates enhanced learning opportunities, one-on-one time with attending physicians, and a close-knit peer group.

We are fortunate to have Dr. Jodi Cisco-Goff and Dr. James Paugh at Logan Regional Medical Center to train our residents for at least fifty percent of the five years of training. While rotating at training sites in Huntington, our residents work under the direction of the full-time surgery faculty of the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. We are unique in that our residents also work alongside and engage in didactics and conferences with their peers in the Marshall University General Surgery Residency Program, a long established and successful sister program. This engagement will be both virtually and in person over the course of residency.
