- WV-INBRE Summer Research Symposium (2023)
Dozens of undergraduate college students will showcase their summer research projects at the DoubleTree Hotel on July 25 as part of the annual West Virginia IDeA Network for Biomedical Research (WV-INBRE) Summer Research Symposium. The students represent nearly all West Virginia colleges including Shepherd University, Glenville State College, Concord University and the University of Charleston and have conducted research at their own institutions, West Virginia University or Marshall University for the past eight weeks. Projects include studies on the treatment of lung cancer, linkage between obesity and cancer, central nervous system consequences of prenatal opioid exposure, adolescent binge drinking and its influence in brain function among several others. WV-INBRE, which is designed to support biomedical research throughout the state, is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH #P20GM103434) to Marshall University, in cooperation with West Virginia University and several of the state's colleges and smaller universities.
