The program offers participation and observation of general dentistry within the dental clinic of Marshall Dentistry & Oral Surgery and is intended for international graduate dentists who wish to increase their knowledge through didactics and observation of patient care. Preceptors engage in didactic courses, observations and presentations in General Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Endodontics and Prosthodontics. This international preceptorship in general dentistry consists of two consecutive weeks, the second and third weeks (Monday through Friday) of a given month.
Preceptors will also be expected to present two didactic assignments:
Grand Rounds will be held on the Friday afternoon of the 2nd week of preceptorship.
The program can accept up to two participants per session. Appropriate professional attire and grooming is required. Jeans are not permitted in the clinic.

Observation of general dentistry procedures ranging from oral hygiene; initial examination/periodic preventive (recall); treatment planning; restorative care; crown and bridge; implant restorative (if scheduled during time frame of program); removable full and partial prosthodontics; and selected oral surgery.
Observation of oral surgery with Dr. Khanna (in the main clinic, not hospital based observation), including but not limited to extractions (routine, complicated, impactions); implant placement; alveolar grafting; endodontic surgical procedures; biopsies (hard and soft tissue); IV sedation; and local anesthesia. Procedures may vary due to scheduling during preceptorship program time frame.
Generally the Friday of the second week of the preceptorship. These clinics are led and supervised by a board-certified periodontist and endodontist. Morning lectures are followed by clinic hours and observation of periodontal and endodontic procedures by faculty and/or dental residents. Observation of hospital-based general dentistry in the dental surgical suite. Procedures to include but not limited to: Extractions, Restorative (Amalgam, Resin, Glass Ionomer). Generally, patients limited to children, young adults and/or adults with medically compromised or behavioral complexities requiring dental care provision in a controlled environment under General Anesthesia.
