At Marshall University obstetrics and gynecology, research is a cornerstone of our residency program. Under the guidance of our pediatric adolescent gynecologist Dr. Jennie Yoost, residents complete at least one research project during their residency training including completion of a manuscript with submission for publication. In addition, residents work in groups of 3-4 to complete yearly quality improvement projects under the supervision of one of our generalists, Dr. Emily Sloane. With the support of encouragement of our faculty as well as a dedicated research coordinator, our residents are able to complete the above required research
projects as well as to pursue any other interests they have in research projects. Many projects are multidisciplinary in nature and medical students are often utilized to assist in data collection and other important elements of the projects.
Each year our department hosts a resident research day. Residents present their projects and awards are presented based on level of training.
