Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program

Welcome to the Marshall Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program!

The department of obstetrics and gynecology at Marshall University considers the education of our residents to be of utmost importance. Our ACGME-accredited program offers comprehensive training in general obstetrics and gynecology as well as subspecialty care. With 17 full-time faculty members, our program prides itself on devotion to education. Residents are able to gain extensive experience with specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and West Virginia’s only Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecologist.

Training occurs primarily at Cabell Huntington Hospital, the region’s largest provider of obstetrical and gynecologic care. Patients often travel several hours to receive care at our facility. Resident training includes exposure to specialized centers for prenatal diagnosis, maternal hypertension, gestational diabetes, maternal addiction and recovery, pediatric bleeding disorders, gender affirming pediatrics, and gynecologic malignancies. In addition, they gain experience in assisted reproductive technology as well as extensive training in minimally invasive surgery, completing a robotic surgery curriculum before graduation.

One of the most exciting changes coming to our program is an increase in resident complement from 12 residents total to 16. Each year we will now be matching 4 residents per incoming class and will reach our new complement number of 16 total residents by 2028.

We are committed to training compassionate clinicians and leaders in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. We appreciate your interest in our program at Marshall University and encourage you to learn more about our program.
