Dental General Practice Residency

Welcome

Dr. Raj Khanna
Program Director

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of our future applicants to the General Practice Residency Program at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. The selection of a residency program will be one of the most critical decisions you make during your training. I am thrilled that you are considering spending this important time here.

Our program is a fully accredited General Practice Residency in Dentistry one year program with optional second year. We have three slots in our first year and two slots in our second year. We accept US and International Dental Graduates.

The General Practice Residency program affords an opportunity for the recent graduate to obtain advanced education and training in comprehensive general dentistry within both an ambulatory and a hospital environment. The first year of the residency program is specifically designed to enhance the resident's abilities and confidence in fully treating the total patient while familiarizing themselves with other aspects of the hospital health service as they work in close relationship with other members of the health care team. The development of high professional standards in ethics, attitudes and performance is stressed. For those who are interested, the second years is an enhancement of the first year with increased emphasis on research, advancement of clinical skills and pain and anxiety control in dentistry.

We, the entire faculty and staff of the Department of Dentistry and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery are available at any time to assist you in your educational endeavors. We look forward to a productive, challenging and educational academic year, and we extend to each of you our very best wishes.
