- School of Medicine to host 25th Annual Golf Classic
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine will host its 25th annual Golf Classic, presented by OVP Health, Tuesday, April 23, at Guyan Golf and Country Club.
The event is a four-player golf scramble with a putting contest, games and the opportunity to win up to $5,000 cash. Player registration, with a boxed lunch provided by Buddy’s BBQ of Huntington/Milton, starts at 11 a.m. The tournament begins at 12 p.m. with a shotgun start. Presentation of awards and dinner will follow the tournament.
Event sponsors to date include: OVP Health (title sponsor); Nucor Steel West Virginia (cart sponsor); E.P. Leach and Sons, Hammers Industries (putting sponsors); Dutch Miller Auto Group (beverage sponsor); River Park Hospital (hole-in-one sponsor); Champion Industries Inc., Encompass Health - Rehabilitation Hospital of Huntington, Holzer Health System, Drs. Sean Loudin ('05) and Jenna B. Dolan ('04), Marshall OB/GYN, UK King's Daughters Medical Center, Marathon Petroleum Marine (green sponsors); and HQ Publishing, Radiology, Inc., Peoples Bank (commencement sponsors). Additional sponsorship packages are available.
Individual golf packages are available for $225 and include: green fee, cart, live scoring, lunch, dinner, registration gifts and a chance for great prizes. The cost for School of Medicine alumni, faculty, staff and students is $150. Individual golf packages are complimentary for the Class of 2024.
Proceeds from the golf classic benefit the School of Medicine Class of 2024 scholarship endowment fund and support graduation week activities. In addition to the golf tournament, the class conducted various fundraisers throughout their four years in medical school.
