- School of Medicine honors faculty at annual award ceremony
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine recognized several faculty for their achievements during its annual year-end award ceremony this week.
“Our annual faculty awards are more than just recognition of individual excellence. They are a celebration of the collective effort and impact our faculty have in shaping the future of healthcare," said Darshana Shah, Ph.D., associate dean for faculty advancement. “This event is a valuable opportunity to acknowledge our faculty members' hard work and dedication. It serves as an inspiration to students and fellow educators alike, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in healthcare and education.”
Dean David Gozal, M.D., M.B.A, Ph.D. (Hon) presented his Dean’s Awards of Excellence in the following categories:
Clinical Care – Semeret Munie, M.D., associate professor of surgery, has provided exemplary patient care and served the needs of our community for more than four years.
Research – Mary-Louise Risher, Ph.D., assistant professor of biomedical sciences, is a well-published and collaborative alcohol use disorder researcher who has earned competitive funding from multiple federal agencies.
Education – Kathleen O’Hanlon, M.D., professor of family and community health, effortlessly teaches her residents and students while providing excellent clinical care to patients.
