Nurse practitioner fellowship now accepting applications

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The internal medicine nurse practitioner fellowship program at Marshall Health and the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is now accepting applications for its 2022-2023 cohort.

The fellowship provides one year of postgraduate training for nurse practitioners looking to transition into a new specialty or hone their skills in a specific area of practice. Fellows work closely with physicians, other nurse practitioners, pharmacists, resident physicians and internal medicine subspecialty fellows from the School of Medicine to grow professional expertise in clinical care, research, leadership, didactics and teamwork. Rotations in general internal medicine and cardiology are required. Elective rotations include endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, infectious disease and pulmonology.

Eligible applicants must have graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) or Doctor of Nurse Practitioner (D.N.P.) program prior to the start of the fellowship on Sept. 1. National board certification must be obtained by Aug. 1.

Applications must be submitted online no later than Monday, March 7. Applicants selected for interviews will be scheduled in March-April with the final selection of fellows in April.

The program will host a virtual open house on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 6:30 p.m. To register, visit https://www.cognitoforms.com/MarshallHealth2/virtualopenhouseinternalmedicinenursepractitionerfellowship  (or https://bit.ly/3gAM2lV ).
