New pediatricians join clinical faculty

New pediatricians join Marshall Health

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine recently welcomed two new members to its clinical faculty in the department of pediatrics.

Jennifer L. Biber, M.D., FAAP, a fellowship-trained, board-certified pediatrician, joins the department as an assistant professor. She most recently completed a critical care pediatrics fellowship at the prestigious Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where she served as chief fellow from 2014 to 2015. Biber earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed her pediatric residency at Marshall University.

Biber works in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Cabell Huntington Hospital. 


Lauren M. Thompson, M.D., a board-certified pediatrician, joins the department as an assistant professor. Thompson graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s in biochemical sciences and went on to earn her medical degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Thompson also completed her pediatric residency at Marshall University.

She is accepting new patients in the offices of Marshall Pediatrics, located at 179 Station Place, Suite 200, in Hurricane, West Virginia. For appointments, please call 304-691-8870.


In August, Marshall Pediatrics also added Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine graduates Susan Lopata, M.D. (’11) and Jodi M. Pitsenbarger, M.D. (’12) as assistant professors in the department. Lopata sees patients in the Marshall University Medical Center office. For appointments with Lopata, please call 304-691-1300.
