- Marshall University Physician Assistant program earns continued accreditation
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Marshall University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Marshall University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be July 2035. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy. The program’s accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website at https://www.arc-pa.org/accreditation-history-marshall-university/.
“Accreditation-Continuous status affirms the quality and strong work of our program, faculty, staff and students,” said Ben Spurlock, M.S., PA-C, director of the PA program at Marshall University. “We are proud to uphold the standards that prepare future physician assistants to serve patients and communities across West Virginia and beyond.”
Paulette S. Wehner, M.D., vice dean for education, praised the team’s dedication. “This outcome reflects the hard work and unwavering commitment of our PA program faculty and staff throughout the rigorous accreditation process,” she said. “Their efforts ensure that our students receive a high-quality education that meets the evolving needs of the health care workforce.”
