Dr. Lauren Thompson named Fellow of the Month

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Lauren Thompson, MD, has been named Fellow of the Month for June at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, announced Paulette S. Wehner, M.D., vice dean for education.

“Dr. Thompson is the first fellow in our neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship and will continue her legacy as a wonderful, talented attending physician,” Wehner said.

A native of Verona, New Jersey, Thompson is finishing the third year of her fellowship. She earned her medical degree from Marshall University.

"Dr. Thompson is exemplary and has helped shape the future for our fellowship program,” said Cynthia Massey, M.D., director of the neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship. “She is bright, motivated, and one of the hardest workers I know. We are thrilled for her to receive this well-deserved recognition and honored to welcome her back as faculty later this summer.”

After graduation, Thompson plans to remain with Marshall Health Network in the Neonatal-Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.

As part of her Fellow of the Month recognition, Thompson received a plaque and designated a parking spot.
