Dr. Jamie Anderson named March Resident of the Month

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Jamie Anderson, M.D., has been named Resident of the Month for March at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, announced Paulette S. Wehner, M.D., vice dean for education.

“Dr. Anderson exemplifies the qualities of a true leader and educator,” Wehner said. “She has made significant contributions to her surgical residency program, medical students, and local high school students through the creation of suturing and vascular kits, innovative simulation projects, hands-on workshops and curricular enhancements.”

Anderson is finishing her fourth year of the General Surgery Residency Program at the School of Medicine. The Cross Junction, Virginia native completed her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia.

“Dr. Anderson’s leadership not only improves the quality of training but also inspires her peers to strive for excellence,” said Professor Paul Bown, M.D., program director.

After graduation, Anderson plans to complete a vascular fellowship. As part of her Resident of the Month recognition, Anderson received a plaque and designated a parking spot.
