HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Gerard Giangrosso, M.D., has been named Resident of the Month for October at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, announced Paulette S. Wehner, M.D., vice dean for graduate medical education.

“Resident physicians are integral to team-based care, and Dr. Giangrosso has proven to be a team-player who also provides compassionate patient care,” Wehner said.

Giangrosso is finishing the third year of a general surgery residency at the School of Medicine. The Louisiana native completed his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine.

“Dr. Giangrosso, also honored as intern of the year during his first year as a resident, continues to demonstrate respect, sympathy and exceptional communication. He expertly navigates difficult circumstances,” said Paul Bown, M.D., general surgery residency program director. “His unwavering commitment sets a standard of excellence that inspires us all.”
