Alumni Spotlight: Yusif Mohammed, MD

Yusif Mohammed, MD
Class of 2017

The 2017 graduate of the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine went on to complete his internal medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Mohammed then joined the faculty of The Ohio State University College of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine in 2020. He serves as a hospitalist and clinical professor at Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. 

Dr. Mohammed has more than five years of diverse experiences in hospital medicine and affiliates with many hospitals including The Ohio State University Hospitals and the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. He cooperates with many other doctors and specialists in his medical group, OSU Internal Medicine, LLC. 

Dr. Mohammed was born in Koforidua, Ghana. He moved to Charleston, West Virginia, in 2003 and stayed there until moving to Huntington for undergrad and medical school. He was in the first Project P.R.E.M.E.D. class and received the Dean’s Excellence Through Diversity Award in 2015. During his career, he has received other honors, including a Caregiver Appreciation Award in 2019.
