Of the many titles Dr. Rebecca Phaeton holds—gynecologic oncologist, assistant professor, researcher—perhaps her favorite is “teacher.” Her clerkship students describe her as “engaging” and one who cares deeply about her students’ education, saying “through her teaching, I feel confident and proficient.” As the Director of the Physician-Scientist Training Program, she is intent on fostering the career of future leaders in medicine and science .
While her cultural roots are from Haiti, this Texas born and bred native loves to conjure up memories with southern cooking blended with Haitian spices. In her time outside of the hospital, she also enjoys playing the piano, planning events and crafting American Girl Doll inspired pieces with her daughter Abigail.
