How is West Virginia doing compared to other states?

West Virginia has consistently ranked in the top two highest antibiotic prescribing states per capita over the last five years, ranking first for the past three years, according to CDC data. This data include both inpatient and outpatient arenas as well as adult and pediatric populations.

In response, we created the WV Antimicrobial Awareness Clinical and Research Team to promote antimicrobial stewardship and forward research in this area.
